Assignment #9: If I had $100

Lately in class we have been learning/talking about ethical gifts. Mrs. Crosbie gave every one in the class $100 (not really) and we are suppose to choose ethical gifts from the charity sites provided. What I did was partner up with Max L, Brandon M, Karran K and we combined our money totaling $400 We bought; two goats for $116, a donkey for $120, a sheep for $52, a flock of chickens for $90 and safe drinking water for $22. We decided to pick all animals because it can provide useful things like milk, eggs, wool and food. Also, animals can last longer then something like a bucket or a mosquito net, so instead of a short burst of help, an animal can help for a much longer period of time and can produce more of themselves.

Assignment #6

What this poem means to me is that you should always seek the truth and that opinions do not mean anything. This can be applied to our society in a way that you should not listen to rumors if you know what the truth really is.

Assignment #5

The message of the golden rule is very simple it is that you treat others as you would like to be treated. I think that sometimes we don`t behave according to the golden rule because sometimes anger or ignorance can be all we have on our minds in a conflict, I also believe that if every one acted according to the golden rule In general  their would be less conflict and disagreements in the world. an expression of the golden rule that i like the most is Buddhism expression because it`s very poetic and has a rhyme to it.

assignment #4

My instrument is the saxophone which is a woodwind instrument. The parts of the instrument are the Reed, Ligature, Cork , Neck, Neck screw and the Body the cleff that the saxophone is played in is the treble cleff.the saxophone was invented in 1841 by a Belgian manufacturer, Adolphe Sax. The sound that the instrument makes can very from a high pitch note to a low pitch note depending on the note that is being played, you assemble the instrument by simply putting all the parts together in the places that they go. you sterilize the mouth piece by dipping it in a cleaning fluid for about 20 seconds then taking it out and drying it with a clean towel, before you star playing you want to remove the parts from the case but not grabbing it from its keys or any moving parts you also want to clean your mouth piece before playing. putting the instrument away you wanna do basically the same thing putting all the parts in the designated areas in the case still not hanging on to it by its keys or moving parts.

Assignment #3

Behind my name: Skylar

before i started this assignment, I thaught my name was Irish because thats what i`ve been told. I think my parents chose this name for me because they thought it was Irish. After searching on behind the name  http://www.behindthename.com/ I learned that my name means "The sky". Some other interesting info about my name is that it`s been in the US top 1000 girls name and that the boys spelling for it is actually "Skylar". if i could give myself a new name i don`t know what it would be but it would defiantly be a name that is not to common.

Assignment #2

Discrimination means not to like some one because of their race, religion, gender or age and just to pick people out as a group and not an individual. For example "I don`t like Asians because their annoying" that person could have met one Asian in their life that was annoying and now he decides that all Asians are going to be annoying, I think that to Discriminate a race, gender, age or religion you must meet and get to know every one of that race religion ECT. To make that decision and that`s not going to happen. Tolerance means that you may not agree or like certain people because if  their race, religion, gender or age But you won`t  make a big deal about it you Tolerate it (put up with it), for example you might be christian and your friend might be really rude to people that are not christian because his beliefs are that every one should believe in god but you on the other hand are christian as well and believe in god but you don`t need to get all worked up because people have a different belief than you do because you "tolerate" them.
